Leslie Farndale, son of William and Mary Emma (nee Coverdale) Farndale (FAR00665), was born in Thirsk District in the second quarter of 1923 (GRO Vol 9D Page 784).

Last year was the least active that the club had experienced for many years owing to the war, was an observation by Miss War, honorary secretary to Northallerton Young Farmers Club, in her annual report at the meeting of members on Saturday... The reports were received and adopted... L Farndale... Committee...

Leslie (Les) Farndale died on 20 January 2013 and is buried at St Mary the Virgin Churchyard, Leake, Hambleton District, North Yorkshire.

FARNDALE On January 20, peacefully, in hospital, Les, aged 89 years of Northallerton. Dearly loved husband of Mary, loving dad of Gillian and Richard and a dearest father-in-law and grandad. Funeral service to take place at All Saints Church, Northallerton, on Tuesday, January 29, at 1.45pm followed by cremation. No flowers please.

The Northern Echo on 25 January 2013: FARNDALE Mary, Gillian and Richard wish to thank all relatives, friends and neighbours for the kindness and support shown and for the cards of condolence received following their loss of Les. Special thanks to all the staff at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home and the M.A.U at the Friarage Hospital for their kindness and care of Les. Also, to the Rev Howard Smith for a thoughtful service, Owen Bathram Funeral Director for his help and guidance and finally our grateful thanks for the generous donations received in memory of Les for Alzheimer's Research UK.
