Leslie Farndale, son of Thomas William and Christie Ann (nee Dixon) Farndale (FAR00587) was born in Guisborough District on 29 March 1909 (DR) and baptised 28 April 1909 at Loftus (BR). Leslie Farndale’s birth was registered in Guisborough  District in the second quarter of 1909 (GRO Vol 9d page 483).

Leslie Farndale, married Ellen M Sanders in the third quarter of 1943 at Cleveland District (MR).

 

Nottingham

1950

Leslie Farndale married Irene Marriott in the fourth quarter of 1950 at Nottingham District (MR).

Leslie was a Regular Army Sergeant in the Sherwood Foresters in 1950. There is an article about him in the Nottingham Evening Post of 18 and 19 October 1950 showing that he reached that rank when he was cleared of a charge against him. He was attached at that time to the RAMC and WRAC and regimental pay office. 


1952

Leslie and Irene’s son, Anthony R Farndale (FAR01055), was born in 1952 in Basford District, but he died aged 0 in the same year.

 

1953

Their daughter, Susan D Farndale (FAR01062) was born in 1953 in Portsmouth District.

 

1954

Their son, Leslie I Farndale (FAR01068) was born in 1954 in Leeds District.

 

1955

Their son, Norman M Farndale (FAR01074) was born in 1955 in Nottingham District.

 

Their son, Terry Farndale (FAR01075), presumably a twin, was also born in 1955 in Nottingham District.

 

There is an article in the Nottingham Evening Post of 15 June 1955, which shows that he worked for the Boots Pure Drug Co as a packer in May 1955, when he lived at 15 Penshore Close, Nottingham and confirms that before then he had served in the Army as a Quarter-master sergeant.

Their daughter, Valerie J Farndale (FAR01085) was born in 1956 in Nottingham District.

1964

Leslie L Farndale married Carol A Westcott in the fourth quarter of 1964 at Tiverton District, Devon (MR).

1965

Leslie and Carol’s son, Douglas L Farndale (FAR01133) was born in 1965 in Swindon, Wiltshire.

1968

Their son, Alister James Farndale (FAR01159) was born in 1968 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
