On 19
April 1396 a pardon was allowed to Robert de Wodde of
Farndale (FAR00053) ,
for the death of John Hawlare of Kirby Moorseved, killed there on Monday, the eve of the
Purification in the 18th year (Calendar of Patent Rolls,
19 Richard II, Part II, page 695).

The 18th year
of Richard II’s reign was 1394 to 1395 and the eve of the purification is on 1
February, the day before Candlemas. So the death of John Hawlare
occurred on 1 February 1395.
