Howgrave's Stamford Mercury, 24 May 1733: Saturday last about seven in the evening died suddenly in his chamber at Cambridge, the Rev Dr William Baker, senior bursar at Saint John's college, a loss regretted by all that knew him, being in every station of life, a truly great and good man, and a faithful member of the Church of England.
