James Baker was the son of Richard and Mary (nee Smith) Baker (FAR00060). He was baptised at Leominster on 26 December 1708 (England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975, FHL Film Number 992234).

1728

James Baker was an apothecary.

1736

James Baker married Martha Adams, daughter of Joseph Adams of Burslem, Staffordshire, on 14 October 1736 at Stanton Lacy, Shropshire.

James, apothecary, married Martha (who married secondly Edward Adams, younger son of Edward Adams of Bagnall, Staffordshire, and had further issue), daughter of Joseph Adams, of Burslem, Staffordshire, and died 1744 (will proved October 1744), leaving issue (Burke, John and Burke, Sir Bernard (1836)(Eighteenth Edition, 1972), Bellyse Baker of Highfields in Burke’s Landed Gentry, Volume 3, pages 35 to 38).

1744

James died of consumption in 1744 and was buried at St Giles, Cripplegate, City of London on 15 March 1744. His will was proved in October 1744.

Martha Baker later married Edward Adams, son of Edward Adams of Bagnall (Staffordshire) and had further issue.

Note however that there was also a James Baker who was buried at St Peter and St Paul, Leominster on 17 October 1741.
