1711
Francis Farndale,
son of Francis Farndale (FAR00113B)
was baptised at Whitby on 30 September 1711 at St Mary the
Virgin, Whitby (Whitby PR).
1738
Francis Farndale,
married Margaret Spark, both of Whitby
Parish, at Whitby
parish Church on 28 May 1738 (Boyd’s
Marriage Index). He would
be 27. Boyd’s Marriage Index suggests Francis may sometimes have been known as
Fra. Margaret Sparkl was probably baptised on 19
February 1692 at Rudston, down the coast near
Bridlington, and her father was Guilielmi.
Sarah Farndale (FAR00151), daughter of Francis Farndale,
carpenter, was baptised at Whitby
on 11 March 1738.
He was a
carpenter by 1738 according to his daughter’s record.
1740
Giles Farndale (FAR00154), son of Francis
Farndale, carpenter, was baptised at Whitby
on 13 July 1740.
1742
John Farndale (FAR00155A) who died on 11 August
1742, was probably born shortly before he died.
1743
Francis Farndale (FAR00158), son of Francis
Farndale, carpenter, was baptised at Whitby
on 31 July 1743.
1744
A second John
Farndale (FAR00159A), born
after the earlier John had died, may have ben born in about 1744. He died on 1
September 1759 in Whitby.
1745
Spark Farndale (FAR00160), son of Francis
Farndale, carpenter, was baptised at Whitby on
18 August 1745.
1747
Thomas Farndale (FAR00161), son of Francis
Farndale of Whitby, was baptised at Whitby
on 13 September 1747.
Thomas’ first
wife, Margaret Farndale might have died at about this time. I have not found a
record of the death of a Margaret Farndale at this time. There was Margaret Spark who was buried at St Mary the
Virgin, Whitby on 28 June 1755, so the other possibility is that they divorced
and she died soon afterwards. This seems unlikely as divorce was rare and
Margaret Spark was listed as a widow. They had also chosen to name one of their
children Spark in 1745, so this doesn’t suggest the ingredients for a rift
shortly afterwards.
1750
Francis Farndale
married Margaret Gray, both of Whitby, on 4 November 1750. He was then aged
39.
1751
Thomas
Farndale (FAR00182), son of Francis Farndale, was baptised at Whitby in 1751.
1759
Mary
Farndale (FAR00179), daughter of Francis Farndale, was baptised at Whitby on 3
September 1759.
Christian
Farndale (FAR00180), son of Francis Farndale, was baptised at Whitby on 3
September 1759.
Frances Farndale (FAR00181), daughter of Francis Farndale, was baptised at Whitby on 3
September 1759
(all from Whitby PR)
1772
Francis Farndale (aged 60
years) was buried on 6 September 1772 at St Mary the Virgin, Whitby. A carpenter.
1775
Francis’ second
wife, Margaret, was buried at St Mary the Virgin, Whitby on 5 October 1775 (Whitby PR). She was 55 years old, so born in about
1720.
