1818
John Farndale, was born in Whitby
(the census suggests Goathland) in 1818. It seems most likely that he was the son of
John and Dinah Farndale (FAR00198).
1848
There was an Elizabeth Frankland
who married at Whitby at the end of 1848 (GRO Vol 24 page 681). The census records suggest
this was to John Farndale. There was an Elizabeth Hind who married John
Frankland, a jet manufacturer, at Whitby on 15 October 1836, so this was
probably her second marriage.
1841
Elizabeth
Farndale was born at Whitby in or about 1841
(FAR00350A). It is
possible she was Elizabeth’s daughter with John Frankland, who later adopted
the Farndale name after her marriage to John.
1846
John Frankland
Farndale, was born in or about 1846 (FAR00366A). It is
possible she was Elizabeth’s son with John Frankland, who later adopted the
Farndale name after her marriage to John.
1849
William Farndale,
born in Whitby in or about 1849 (FAR00378A). William was
presumably John and Elizabeth’s son.
1851
The Census of 1851 for St Ann’s, Snaith, Whitby listed John Farndale, head; married;
aged 33; a sailor; born Goathland; Elizabeth Farndale, (nee
Hind?) his wife; married; age 32; born Whitby
in about 1819; Elizabeth Farndale, daughter; unmarried; aged 10; born in Whitby (FAR00350A); John Frankland
Farndale, aged 5; William Farndale, son; aged 2; William Hind, father-in-law;
aged 68; widower; sailor from Prussia (born about 1783).
1874
John Farndale,
aged 56, born in about 1818, died In the Whitby area in 1874 and the death was
registered at Whitby in the third quarter of 1874 (GRO
Vol 9d page 309).
