Annie
Louisa Farndale, daughter of George and Catherine Farndale (FAR00333) was born in Stockton District on 18 February 1872. Annie
Louisa Farndale’s birth was registered in Stockton District in the first
quarter of 1872 (GRO Vol 10a page 83).
Daily Gazette for Middlesbrough, 19 and 22 February 1872: BIRTH. FARNDALE - At Middlesbrough, on the 18th
inst, the wife of Geo Farndale, druggist, Newport
road, of a daughter.
1874
Annie Louisa Farndale, aged 2, died at Stockton District in the fourth quarter of
1874. She was buried on 28 December 1874 at Oxbridge Cemetery, Stockton
(GRO
Vol 10a page 79 and 72, Stockton PR).
There
was a smallpox pandemic in 1870 to 1874, which originated in France. The
Vaccination Act 1853 helped to mitigate its effect in England, but perhaps this
was the cause of three sisters dying the same year. There was also a cholera
epidemic at the time.
Daily Gazette for Middlesbrough, 2 January 1875: DEATH. FARNDALE. On the 26th Dec, at
Newport Road, Middlesbrough, Annie Louisa, aged three years, the beloved and
last surviving daughter of Mr Geo Farndale.
