John Baker was the son of William
and Mary (nee Bourne) Baker (BAK00106).
John was born on 10 July 1806. He was baptised at St Peter Ad Vincula, Stoke on Trent on 21 July 1806 (St Peter Ad Vincula, Stoke on
Trent Parish Records).
Brother John Baker is a shadowy figure, and I have
been able to find little about him. (Dodd, F (1987), The Baker Family and Fenton,
Presidential Address in Transactions 1986 to 1987, The North
Staffordshire Field Club page 13).
John, of Fenton Culvert and Moorville, Caverswell (in common with
his brother William), Lord of the Manor of Fenton Culvert, Joint Patron of the
Living of Ch Ch Fenton, heir to the Fenton Culvert
property of his uncle Ralph Bourne DL, JP, Partner in Baker and Bourne, born 7
August 1806, married 1833, Prudence (who married secondly as his first wife,
William Baker JP, MFH, if Highfields, daughter of Eastwood, and died December

John went into partnership with
his brother William Baker IV in the 1830s.
1836
John Baker married Prudence Cliffe
at St Philip’s Church, Liverpool on 4 October 1836 (St Philip’s Church, Liverpool
Parish Records).

John Baker died in 1837 and was
buried at St Peter Ad Vincula, Stoke on Trent on 30
