John Farndale son of Joseph Farndale labourer of Baxtergate, Whitby and Margaret Farndale formerly Brown (FAR00285) was born in Whitby on 6 November 1845 (Whitby PR). John Farndale’s birth was registered at Whitby District in the fourth quarter of 1845 (GRO Vol 24, page 539).

Margaret Farndale, 45, his wife This seems to be an error in the census. His first wife Margaret had died by then and his second wife was Jane Farndale.

John Farndale aged 26 years, bachelor, labourer of Harper’s Yard, 4, Walmgate, York, son of Joseph Farndale, labourer, married Elizabeth Walker aged 21 years, spinster, of St Lawrence Street, York, daughter of John Walker deceased, a corn dealer, at the Register Office, York, on 16 December 1871 (Marriage Certificate).

1872

Louisa Farndale (FAR00518) was born in York on 6 July 1872.

 

1874

 

Mary Emily Farndale (FAR00529) was born on 5 November 1874.

When Mary was born in 1874, the year of John’s death, he was a carter.

 

John Farndale, died age 28 at York District in the last quarter of 1874 (DR).

So Elizabeth nee Walker had remarried Christopher Walls after John Farndale died in 1874, and their two children lived with the new family.
