The Story of the Australia 2 Line

Clifford Farndale was the fifth born of James and Mary Farndale, of the Ampleforth Line. He ad his brothers were mostly associated with Thornaby, where Clifford was born. Clifford married Kathleen Gourlay at Guisborough in 1927 and they had three children. They later emigrated to South Australia after 1964.

The Australia 2 Line can trace back from Clifford to the Ampleforth 1 Line as follows:

At the present time I have been unable to trace this line back to older lines of Farndales. With more research I may yet find the link to the direct Farndale history back to 1512. It seems likely that Elias will be linked to Farndales in other lines, and I am sure that all those using the Farndale name, are linked to the early family lines, such as the Kirkleatham Skelton Line, the Liverton 2 Line, the early part of the Kilton 1 Line, and the Kilton 2 Line. I am also sure that all Farndales will share in the medieval ancestry which is described in Volume 1 of the Farndale Directory.

Chronology of the Australia 2 Line

28 April 1927	Clifford Farndale was born at Thornaby, the son of James and Mary Farndale.
9 July 1949	Clifford Farndale married Kathleen Moira Gourlay at Guisborough.
1949	Their son, James Farndale, was born.
1951	Cliff Farndale was born.
1956	Angela Farndale was born.
About 1964	The family emigrated to Australia.
2006	Cliff Farndale Junior died in Darwin, Northern Territory.
25 January 2008	Clifford Farndale Senior died in South Australia and buried at Port Adelaide.
