GENERAL MANAGER’S APPEALS FOR THEM AT LOFTUS. Appeals were made to the Loftus
tribunal on Wednesday on behalf of the employees in the East Cleveland
cooperative society. Mr S Tenby JP, general manager of the society, appealed
for William Wilks, who is in charge of the provision
department at the central store, Loftus.... In the case of A E Farndale,
manager in a branch drapery and boot department of the society, two months were
allowed. Absolute exemption was asked for, the applicant stating he was the
sole support of his widowed mother, and hardship would ensue if he had to go
away.

PRESENTATION. Mr Albert Farndale, of North Skelton, who for 20 years was
associated with the East Cleveland Cooperative Society’s drapery department and
for some years manager of Brotton drapery store, has been presented by his late
colleagues in the Brotton stores with a gold watch and fountain pen. He is now
drapery manager for Skelton cooperative society.
