17 April 1935: At the recent “school” examinations of the Royal
Schools of Music held in Chichester, the following pupils of Miss Sylvia M
Barker were successful: Primary, Noel J Carter and Irene Farndale;
Elementary, Joan Farndale; and Grammar of Music, Grade I, Daphne P Hayward.

Coombs... were the contracting parties in a very pretty wedding ceremony at
Portfield church on Easter Monday.. She was attended
by 5 bridesmaids... who wore ankle length dresses pale mauve satin, with ruched
ribbon to match and white satin shoes.... The three younger attendants, …and the
Misses Joan and Irene Farndale, nieces at the bridegroom, were attired in
the same style with pale pink ankle length dresses. All carried bouquets of
pink tulips... Mr G Farndale, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, acted as best
man...
