Robert
Edward Farndale, son of Robert Farndale (FAR00254), warehouseman of Stockton and Sarah Ann Farndale formerly
Taylor, was born in Stockton on 17
December 1844 (Birth Certificate). He
was baptised in the Wesleyan/Methodist chapel of the Stockton Circuit on 2
February 1845. (Stockton PR). Robert Edward
Farndale’s birth was registered at Stockton
District on 3 January 1845 (GRO Vol 24, page 237).

plasterer and cement maker of No 1 Mandle Road South, Stockton, son of Robert Farndale, a grocer,
deceased, married Elizabeth
Margaret Paver aged 23, a spinster of Guisborough, daughter of William Paver, a
surveyor at a local Board, at the Wesleyan Chapel, Guisborough, on 29 December 1869 (Marriage
Certificate).
1870
He was a plasterer and
cement maker at the time of his marriage
in 1869. Indeed he must have gone into a business in cement manufacturing and
carpentry in Stockton with Benjamin Burlinson, which business was liquidated in
1870.

Proceedings for Liquidation by Arrangement or Composition with Creditors,
instituted by Benjamin Burlinson and Robert Edward Farndale, of South Stockton,
in the county of York, cement manufacturers, Co partners
in trade. Notice is hereby given, that a first general meeting of the creditors
of the above named persons has been summoned to be held at Rastrick's hotel, in
South Stockton aforesaid, on the 21st day of April, 1870, at eleven o’clock in
the forenoon precisely. Dated this 5th day of April, 1870. T H Draper, attorney
for the said Debtor.

Commercial Advertiser on 14 April 1870 reported:

cement manufacturers, co-partners in trade. Creditors meet at Ratrick’s Hotel, South Stockton, 21st April, at
eleven forenoon. …

Elizabeth Margaret Farndale, and his daughter Emily Gertrude Farndale, went to
live with Robert’s mother, Sarah who had remarried Benjamin Burlinson:
