Dorothy Annie Farndale, daughter of Martin and Catherine (nee Lindsey) Farndale (FAR00364), was born on 24 March 1895 at Tidkinhow Farm, Guisborough District. Dorothy Annie Farndale’s birth was registered at Guisborough District in the second quarter of 1895 (GRO Vol 9d page 514).

In 1908, she wrote to a children’s column.

 

Northern Weekly Gazette, 4 April 1908: DADDY’S CHAT. My dear boys and girls. It gives me much pleasure to hear that the prizes are so appreciated which have been won by... The following have written to me for the first time... Dorothy Farndale... I shall expect to hear from these new members frequently, as well as those who have sent in coupons or signed lists during the week.

Dorothy A Farndale, married Alfred Ross in the first quarter of 1928 at Guisborough District. They lived at Green Farm, Skelton Green. They had no children. He died in the 60s.

Dorothy A Ross (nee Farndale), married Robert Drake in the third quarter of 1970 at Howden District. Still no children.

 

Leyburn, Wensleydale

 

After he died, she lived with her sister Grace in Leyburn.

 

1981

 

Dorothy Annie Drake died at Wensleydale in the second quarter of 1981.


Dorothy A Drake (nee Ross; nee Farndale), died in Leyburn and was cremated and her ashes are buried in Leyburn Cemetery. (all from family knowledge)
